The event was part of the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Vietnamese Revolutionary Journalism (June 21, 1925 – June 21, 2025), and a tribute to the First Congress of the Government Party Committee for the 2025–2030 term. The forum brought together media leaders and 50 outstanding young journalists.
Building a generation of young journalists who are both “virtuous” and “professional”
In his opening remarks, Mr. Bui Hoang Tung, Secretary of the Government Youth Union, emphasized the critical role of young journalists in disseminating accurate and verified information, defending the ideological foundation of the Communist Party, and promoting a positive media narrative. In the digital era, young journalists are seen as pioneers who must possess firm political resolve, innovative thinking, and strong adaptability to new technologies.

Embracing the mission of young journalists in the digital age
During the forum, the young journalists candidly discussed the professional challengescurrently facing their profession, including the spread of misinformation, the pressure of immediacyand the risk of losing public trust. At the same time, they reaffirmed their mission: to renew journalistic practices, apply technology wisely, and build personal media brands, while upholding journalistic ethics and ensuring content quality.
Present at the event are Mr. Bui Hoang Tung, Member of the Party Committee of the Government and Secretary of the Government Youth Union; Ms. Dang Thi Phuong Thao, Deputy Director of the Press Department under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; and 50 distinguished young journalists representing the Government Youth Union.
Journalist Vo Manh Hung (VietnamPlus) emphasized the importance of responsible reporting, particularly when covering sensitive topics. He also warned against the overuse of AI, which can make journalism shallow and detached. Technology is merely a tool. Our pens must carry the breath of real life, he noted.
Dang Thi Phuong Thao, Deputy Director of the Department of Pressnoted that while approximately 40 million press articles are published annually, social media can amplify information tenfold. This reality demands that journalists be faster and more accurate while fact-checking, and capable of guiding public discourse amid an era of overwhelming information.
She emphasized that while mastering technology is essential, so is upholding professional ideals and media ethics, as well as the journalist's role in shaping public opinion.
As part of the forum, participants held a ceremonial tribute at the Presidential Palace Relic Site. Representing the young journalists, VTV editor Pham Thi Diep Anh reported on the achievements of the Government Youth Union, particularly its efforts to follow and promote President Ho Chi Minh’s teachings among young members.
