In his address, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh said, “Since it was founded 70 years ago, the Vietnamese diplomatic sector has contributed greatly to national liberation struggles and national renewal, integration and security. The sector has also contributed to strengthening Vietnam’s prestige in international arenas. Its achievements have been attributed to the leadership of the Party and President Ho Chi Minh”.
Minh underscored the importance of maintaining a peaceful and favorable environment to facilitate national industrialization and modernization, safeguard national independence, sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity, raise Vietnam’s international profile, and contribute to the struggles for peace, national independence, democracy and social progress all over the world.
Attendees emphasized that the biggest challenges for the diplomatic sector are maintaining an environment of peace and stability while simultaneously safeguarding independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, national security and social safety and order.
Discussions at the event helped clarify the ministry’s tasks in analyzing situations and giving accurate forecast, policy consultations, bolstering ties with countries and partners and settling emerging issues. As a core force on the diplomatic front, the sector will work hand in hand with ministries, agencies and localities and intensify collaboration with countries, partners and international organisations during global integration, they said.
