The event was part of a project to assess and more efficiently use water in the central coastal city funded by the Rockefeller Foundation.
The model includes topographic data, hydro-meteorological data, 41 catchment divisions and 5-land cover classification map.
Weap is an evaluation and planning tool developed by the Stockholm Environment Institute’s US Centre since 1988. It provides information about water demand and supply, stream flows, water storage, pollution and treatment.
Organisers also emphasised WEAP’s role and suggested the report should be adjusted according to inputs from the workshop in order to propose water resources management solutions to the city.
