VTV Takes Home First Prize at the 2025 Journalism Awards for Science, Technology, Innovation and Digital Transformation

VTV.vn - VTV's coverage of one of Vietnam’s key strategic sectors has been recognized with the top prize at the 2025 Journalism Awards for Science, Technology, Innovation and Digital Transformation.

The award ceremonyy, organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology of Vietnam, was held on the morning of February 6 in Hanoi. The event honored outstanding journalists and author groups whose works vividly reflected scientific and technological achievements that contributed to socio-economic development.

This year, the organizing committee accepted  nearly 700 submissions from central and local media outlets nationwide. After preliminary and final judging rounds, 22 works and author groups were selected for awards, including  five First Prizes,  five Second Prizes,  six Third Prizes, and  six Consolation Prizes.

The five First Prize-winning works were: “AI Calculations” (VTV1 Channel, Vietnam Television); “Resolution No. 57/NQ-TW: A Way Forward for Public Research Institutes (Hanoi Moi Newspaper)”, “Bringing Digital Technology to Border Villages” (Tuyen Quang Newspaper and Radio & Television); “Vietnam’s New Strength from Science and Technology” (People’s Army Newspaper), and “Inside the Facility Producing Radiopharmaceuticals for Cancer Patients” (VnExpress).

Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Bui Hoang Phuong delivers remarks at the award ceremony.

At  the ceremony, Deputy Minister Bui Hoang Phuong emphasized that journalism  disseminates information  and serves as a vital bridge between science, technology  and everyday life. It  helps to spread the spirit of innovation and accelerates digital transformation across society. He noted that many of this year's award-winning works   addressed core issues such as reforming science governance, developing innovation ecosystems, grassroots-level digital transformation, and applying technology to healthcare, agriculture, and industry.

Since their establishment in 2012, the Journalism Awards, now in their 14th year, have attracted nearly 9,000 entries and honored  hundreds of journalists and author groups. In 2025, the awards adopted a new name to reflect a more integrated approach linking science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation.

At the same event, the Ministry of Science and Technology  launched the 2026 Journalism Awards  to  continue   encouraging  high-quality journalistic works that translate policies on science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation into real-life impact.

The Ministry also announced the Top Science, Technology, Innovation and Digital Transformation Events of 2025, including:

1. The National Assembly’s adoption of ten laws governing science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation, creating a strong institutional foundation for breakthrough development.

2. The National Exhibition of Science, Technology, Innovation, and Digital Transformation Achievements, marking the 80th National Day, alongside the release of special commemorative stamp collections.

3. The restart of the Ninh Thuan nuclear power project, reinforcing national energy security.

4. Domestic mastery of design and manufacturing technologies for armored vehicles.

5. The successful application of next-generation DNA identification technology (NGS-SNP) to identify martyrs’ remains.

6. Nationwide rollout of 5G networks supporting digital transformation and national security.

7. International commercialization of the AVAC ASF LIVE African swine fever vaccine.

8. Commercialization of two specialized fuel products, Jet A1K and DO L-62.

9. The Hanoi Convention marked a global milestone in the fight against cybercrime.
