The documentary film VTV Special - Healing is a project produced by the Department of Culture and Entertainment Programs of Vietnam Television (VTV) to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification. The film tells the story of two American filmmakers: Bob Judson, a former soldier who fought in Vietnam in 1968, and Dan Aguar, who grew up after the war. Together, they embark on a journey of “awakening” as they witness the vitality, forgiveness, and resilient spirit of the Vietnamese people.
The documentary VTV Special - Healing takes audiences behind the scenes of the American documentary Peace Legacy – a pivotal work that reexamines the Vietnam War from the perspective of those who either witnessed it firsthand or were deeply affected by its aftermath. After the war ended, Vietnam suffered severe consequences, but it also demonstrated a tremendous strength in regaining its independence and freedom. Although many documentaries have been made about the U.S. invasion of Vietnam, this marks the first time an American film crew approaches the subject from the perspective of healing.

VTV Special - Healing follows the emotional journey of American filmmakers Bob Judson and Dan Aguar. Bob Judson, a producer and Vietnam War veteran who served in 1968, carries with him memories of the war that have never faded.
Dan Aguar, born in 1958, grew up during the height of the antiwar movement in the United States but had never truly understood the full scope of what was happening in Vietnam. Two filmmakers, two generations, yet united by a common purpose. They traveled to Vietnam not only to make a film but also to confront history, to seek answers to questions that had long gone unanswered, to heal deep-seated wounds, and to experience emotions that had never before been awakened. Ultimately, they left Vietnam with deeply emotional footage to tell the story of peace and reconciliation to their fellow Americans.
