Filmed in November last year in Japan by a 5-member group from Vietnam and Japan, the series promises audiences a chance to explore the scenery, culture, science, and technology of “the land of the rising sun”.
The documentary series, named “The colors of Japan”, was shot over 20 consecutive days in seven provinces, from Northern to Southern Japan. With great imagery techniques, the series captures the experiences of MC Hồng Phúc of Vietnam Television and other MCs from different TV stations during their time in Japan. Such experiences include acting in a “Noh” drama, making wine, and meeting the scientist who created electric power from steam.
"The purpose of this program is to show Vietnamese viewers the beauty of localities in Japan apart from familiar names like Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto. We tried to select the best locations for MC Hồng Phúc, as well as viewers in general, to see Japan in the most authentic way." - Shiro Otsuru, Producer of "The colors of Japan".

"There is a lesson in each episode and experience. Through this program, I see that Japanese and Vietnamese people share many common characteristics, such as friendliness, closeness, and hospitality. I hope that “The colors of Japan” will bring Japanese and Vietnamese audiences closer together through cultural exchange. I hope that there will be “The colors of Vietnam” for Japanese audiences." - MC Hong Phuc, Vietnam Television.

Seven provinces were selected based on their distinct characteristics of scenery, culture, science, and technology, giving viewers the closest and newest look of the country and people of Japan.
"The more I explore Japan, the more I admire its people for their creativity, ambition, and preservation for later generations. These are the messages we want to convey to Vietnamese audiences." - Nguyen Minh Ha, Director of "The colors of Japan".
"In addition to introducing Japan’s natural beauty, culture, science and technology, “The colors of Japan” also has a larger meaning: the cooperation in production between VTV and TBS Japan bolsters relations between the two countries’ media agencies." - Katsuhiro Nagai, Envoy, Embassy of Japan in Vietnam.
From a snow wall nearly 20m tall in Toyama Prefecture and the Lantern Festival in Aomori Prefecture, to a high-speed train traveling 250 km/h, the 60-minute, nine-episode series “The colors of Japan” will air on Sunday from January 24th on channel VTV2.
