Speaking at the congress, Politburo member and Permanent Member of the Secretariat Trần Quốc Vượng praised the VLA's efforts and achievements in its 12th tenure.
He noted that the association needs to adhere to Party and State’s viewpoints, increase political education and professional ethics for its members, and encourage its members to play an active part in building a society that respects laws.
At the congress, Politburo member Vượng awarded the Order of Friendship to Jeanne Mirer, President of the International Association of Democratic Lawyers, for her contributions to developing the friendship and cooperation between Vietnamese and international lawyers.
