VTV.vn - About 200 Vietnamese in the Republic of Korea launched a peaceful demonstration at the Busan Gas Station, near the Chinese Consulate in Busan City on April 3rd.

The protest aimed to condemn the recent increasing militarisation of China in the East Sea. Beijing has escalated the building and renovation of artificial islands, sending military vessels and facilities to the Spratly and Paracel Archipelago in Vietnam.

In a joint statement sent to the Chinese Embassy in Korea, Overseas Vietnamese clearly stated that China’s military buildup has severely violated the sovereignty of Vietnam, threatening regional marine security, while breaching the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) and the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties (DOC) in the East Sea. The demonstration lasted for about 2 hours, ending in peace./.
