10 years ago, Nguyen Hoai Anh, representative of Thuan Phuong Textile JSC, never thought that the textile products of the company could join the distribution chains of Walmart due to their high standards. However, now the company has sold around 5 million products per year to Walmart.
Nguyen Hoai Anh, Deputy Director, Thuan Phuong Textile JSC said: We need to provide higher added-value products to Wal-mart. We can’t just do the outsourced work. We need to develop the design stage to be more competitive.
According to a Wal-mart representative, the weakness of Vietnamese enterprises is the lack of details in their offers.
Experts also recommended that enterprises need to prepare adequate financial resources in order to successfully join the global product value chain. In addition, Vietnamese enterprises need to prepare adequate knowledge related to tax laws, customs procedures, and logistics in bringing their goods to enter foreign supermarkets.
"Vietnamese enterprises need to check if their products meet the specific demands of Wal-mart. They can ask for support of information and services from the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry.", said Pham Thu Hang, General Secretary, VCCI.
To take advantage of new opportunities from Wal-mart, Vietnamese enterprises need to ensure the stable quality of their products and good selling prices in order to achieve long-term benefits.
