Vietnamese Animation Week Celebrates International Children’s Day on VTV

VTV.vn - Classic animated films created by veteran Vietnamese filmmakers from the 1960s to the 1990s are returning to VTV screens.

In celebration of  International Children’s Day on June 1, Vietnam Television (VTV) will present  a special gift to young viewers and generations of fans of  the beloved program Little Flowers. Starting June 1, 2026, Vietnamese Animation Week will officially air on VTV2,  providing families with   meaningful   viewing experiences through a selection of cherished animated works.

Starting on June 1, the Little Flowers time slot on VTV2 will feature colorful fairy tales and valuable life lessons from a curated selection of Vietnamese animated classics. This special event offers television audiences a rare opportunity to revisit iconic animated films created by the pioneering generation of Vietnamese animation artists during the 1960s, '70s, '80s, and '90s.

The special film week will open on International Children’s Day  with  The Kitten (Meo con), produced in 1965 by People’s Artist Ngo Manh Lan. Regardedas one of the proudest achievements of Vietnamese animation, the film has received numerous prestigious awards both domestically and internationally.

Throughout the week, from June 1 to June 7, audiences will continue to enjoy a variety of beloved animated stories, including The Hundred-Knot Bamboo Tree (Cay tre tram dot) by Meritorious Artist Bao Quang, Kingfisher School (Truong hoc boi ca) by Meritorious Artist Dinh Trang Nguyen, and the artistically acclaimed The Red Umbrella (Chiec o do) by People’s Artist Nguyen Thi Phuong Hoa.

Vietnamese Animation Week provides today’s younger viewers with an opportunity to discover the country’s classic animated masterpieces while gaining a deeper appreciation for a highly creative era of Vietnamese cinema. Each film presents a unique and imaginative world, combining educational value with the original artistic spirit of traditional Vietnamese animation. The event also serves as a wonderful bridge between generations, allowing parents and children to share warm   moments  together and revisit  cherished memories of Little Flowers.

5. Friday (June 5, 2026): The Miracle of Rebirth (Phep la hoi sinh) by People’s Artist Ngo Manh Lan (1995)

6. Saturday (June 6, 2026): The Mole That Ate the Moon (Chuot chui an trang) by Meritorious Artist Tran Trong Binh (1997)

7. Sunday (June 7, 2026): The Red Umbrella (Chiếc Ô Đỏ) byPeople’s Artist Nguyen Thi Phuong Hoa (1998)
