Vietnam win big at International Astronomy Olympiad

VTV.vn - The Vietnamese team won one gold, one silver, and two bronze medals at the International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics (IOAA) which concluded in Beijing, China, on November 11.

This is the third time that Vietnam has participated in the annual competition for high school students and the first time Vietnam secured a gold medal at the Olympiad.

Tran Xuan Tung, a 12th grader, bagged the gold medal and Ho Phi Dung, an 11th grader, won the silver medal while the bronze medals went to Le Tran Dao and Nguyen To Vinh Huy. The entire team is from the Hanoi-Amsterdam High School for the Gifted.

With this achievement, the Vietnamese team ranked 10th among 38 countries participating in the competition.
