Listed as one of the most expensive types of beef in the world, Kobe beef is the specialty of Hyogo Province, Japan, and is processed and selected with care. Currently only about 5,000 cows are certified with the Kobe beef brand, with selling prices in the Japanese market ranging from $360 up to $700 per kg.
