Vietnam came third at the 12th ASEAN Skills Competition with 7 gold, 7 silver and 6 bronze medals and 16 medallions of excellence for outstanding performance, according to the Vocational Training Department under the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs.
The 12th edition of the event was held in Thailand from August 26 to September 5, drawing 331 contestants from 10 regional countries, including 52 from Vietnam, competing in 24 official occupational skills and two performance skills.
In addition to being good at floor tiling and bricklaying, the Vietnamese contestants scored highly in technical skills such as information network cabling, information and communication technology, and IT software solutions.
The Vocational Training Department prepared thoroughly for the competition and contestants were trained at 13 schools under the tutelage of many experienced experts with modern facilities.
Vietnam also finished third at the 11th edition of the event, with 10 gold, 6 silver, 4 bronze medals and 15 medallions of excellence for outstanding performance.
