Vietnam sweeps three gold medals at Asian Petanque Championships

VTV.vn - The Vietnamese delegation blasted their way to three gold medals, their best result ever, at the 3rd Asian Boules Sport Confederation (ABSC) Petanque Championships 2019 that concluded in Hanoi on December 22.

Vietnamese players dominated the mixed triples categories following their 13-3 victories against the Lao team (two women – one man) and the Cambodian rivals (two men – one woman), respectively.

The remaining title of hosts Vietnam was claimed in the women’s triples event.

With three gold and five bronze medals at the ABSC Petanque Championships, and a bronze at the ABSC Youth Petanque Championships, which was held concurrently, Vietnam settled for second place overall behind the Cambodian delegation with four golds, one silver and one bronze.

The Asian Petanque Championships took place in Hanoi from December 18 to 22, with the participation of more than 100 athletes from 12 countries and territories across the continent, including hosts Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, Japan, Laos and the Republic of Korea, among others. The competitors vied for medals in a total of eight events.
