VTV.vn - Vietnam saved more than 428,000 kWh of electricity, equivalent to 858.9 million VND for one hour on March 23 in response to the 2024 Earth Hour campaign, according to the Vietnam Electricity (EVN)’s National Power Dispatch Centre.

During Earth Hour, people across the country switched off unnecessary electrical devices from 8:30 to 9:30 pm.

Initiated by the World Wide Fund for Nature, Earth Hour is a moment of unity that brings the world together, shines a spotlight on nature loss and the climate crisis, and inspires millions more to act and advocate for urgent change.

Vietnam first joined the Earth Hour campaign in 2009 to cut greenhouse emissions by 8%. In Vietnam, the event is hosted by the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

Conveying the message ‘Save electricity - Become a habit’, the 2024 event attracted enthusiastic responses from 63 provinces and cities, with myriad activities taking place nationwide on the day, with the participation of people from all walks of life.
