The New Vision for Agriculture was initiated by the World Economic Forum in 2009. The vision sets a goal to increase agricultural productivity, reduce carbon dioxide emissions, and bring the poverty rate down by 20% in each area until 2050.
Achieving those goals requires a coordinated effort from all stakeholders, including government, business, farmers and especially the private sector.
Vietnam has participated in the initiative since 2010 and had 8 public-private partnership (PPP) groups in various agricultural sectors.
Sustainable agriculture and food security are among the world's main concerns. And the World Economic Forum on the Mekong will be an opportunity for Vietnam to exchange and learn from other forum partners.
