Nearly 120 Association leaders from across Vietnam attended the event. The conference was held in September, a month of many meaningful events for relations between the two countries, including the 65thanniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties.
The event set as its goal the boosting of people-to-people diplomacy between Vietnam and Russia in the coming time. The Vietnam-Russia Friendship Association also aimed to increase communications and PR activities to promote the cultures of both countries.
Duong Chi Kien, Chairman, Vietnam-Russia International Eye Hospital said: We need to promote the Russian Culture as well as the Russian language. We also need to create favorable conditions for Russian learners. Those who studied or worked in Russia will play a key role in developing bilateral ties.
The statue of Russian cosmonaut hero Gherman Titov was recently built in Ha Long Bay. Its construction was the result of cooperation between the Vietnam-Russia Friendship Association and the Russia-Vietnam Friendship Association.
Titov was the first person to photograph Earth, as well as former Chairman of the Soviet Union-Vietnam Friendship Association.
Dao Trong Thi, President, Vietnam – Russia Friendship Association said: The statue is a symbol of friendship between the people of both countries. Through the project, we came to understand our Russian partners more and have deepened our mutual trust.
Vladimir Buianov, President, Russia-Vietnam Friendship Association said: The monument of Titov is proof of the amity between Vietnam and Russia. I believe that if we continue to nurture relations, we can attain more achievements in the coming time.
At the conference, leaders of Vietnam-Russia Friendship Associations throughout the two nations agreed to hold more meetings and increase exchange to further bolster people-to-people relations between Vietnam and Russia.
