Climate change disasters have been directly attributed to the annual death of over 390 lives and cost 1% of Vietnam’s GDP. Prolonged drought and 60-year record high temperatures have stretched from the north to southern central provinces. As a result, 190,000 ha of crop went without water and over 44,000 livestock and poultry died. Low-water levels in rivers are becoming more severe, particularly in the Mekong River which as experienced the lowest water levels for a century./.
