VTV.vn - Vietnam needs to continue accelerating the COVID-19 vaccination programme in order to safely and flexibly adapt to the pandemic, said Minister of Health Nguyen Thanh Long.

Underlining the importance of vaccination, he shared that predictions indicate the pandemic will not be brought under complete control until 2023.

Minister Long said Vietnam needs to step up the drive, especially in providing third shots and inoculating children aged 5-12.

According to the Long, the Ministry of Health has been very cautious about this issue while conducting a comprehensive and scientific assessment.

He said that the Ministry has worked closely with the World Health Organisation and scientists and has learned from the experience of other countries in the world.

Last week, the Vietnamese Government decided to purchase 21.9 million doses of Pfizer vaccine to inoculate children aged between 5 and 12.
