At the inaugural briefing, more than 200 officials from the two countries attended, including Deputy Prime Minister of Vietnam Vu Duc Dam. The institute, when put into operation, is expected to boost cooperation and exchange in science and technology between Vietnam and the Republic of Korea, becoming a provider of technology for leading enterprises in the Vietnamese market. KIST will support the establishment of the institute as a catalyst for national growth and will also invite researchers from the institute to come train in the Republic of Korea.
