This is because the current law has not specified mechanisms for resolving dubious assets. According to deputy Do Duc Hong Ha from Hanoi, nearly 2.64 billion USD has been lost due to corruption in the last 10 years while more than 202.5 million USD has been recollected to the state budget. This is due to difficulties in resolving corrupted assets. Currently, criminals in corruption cases can be punished while their assets are not easy to discover. Several deputies have stressed the need to address this shortcoming in the amendments of the law.
