More than 300 relics related to Xoan singing and Hung Vuong worshipping have been revived. Thanks to these efforts, one of the oldest forms of Vietnamese performing arts has been reintroduced.
The project of Protecting Intangible Cultural Heritage of Xoan singing in Phu Tho province was approved by the Prime Minister in 2013 and is still being implemented through the creation of a Xoan protection fund, the publication of educational documents and the support of artisans. This December, UNESCO will consider removing Xoan singing from the list of Intangible Cultural Heritage in need of urgent protection, making it the first heritage to achieve this.
