Vietnam and Indonesia could further co-operation in agriculture, especially reducing poverty and developing rural areas. Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai made the statement while receiving Indonesian Minister of Villages, Disadvantaged Regions and Transmigration Marwan Jafar in Hanoi on December 28.
He welcomed the guest to visit Vietnam on the occasion of marking the 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties.
Indonesia is currently the fourth biggest trade partner of Vietnam in ASEAN and there is a plenty of room for the two nations to increase links across politics, diplomacy, economics, trade and investment to science technology.
It is possible for Vietnam and Indonesia to exchange experience and obtain international support to ensure better life for locals in remote regions, Hai said.
Minister Marwan Jafar said his on-going visit to Vietnam has opened up new opportunities between his ministry and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
