A 2-1 victory over the Philippines during the second leg of the semifinals has led Vietnam to the finals. Nguyen Quang Hai scored the first goal for the team with a tap-in.
Nguyen Cong Phuong then scored the second goal for Vietnam after dribbling past Philippine defenders. Shortly after, the Philippines shortened the gap after scoring with a tap-in. The Vietnamese team gave a very convincing performance at AFF Cup 2018. They were unbeaten in the group stage scoring eight goals and not conceding any.
