Vietnam extends rice contract with Philippines

VTV.vn - Vietnam recently extended its contract to export 1.5 million tonnes of rice a year to the Philippines, according to the Asia-Pacific Market Department of the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

This contract will run from Dec 2016 to Dec 2018. Besides Vietnam, only Cambodia and Thailand can join auctions to supply rice for the Philippines.

The extension of this contract is expected to help rice wholesalers compete with other foreign rice suppliers to secure rice contracts with the Philippines.
