VTV.vn - The Ministry of Construction (MOC) has set the target to complete 130,000 social housing unit in 2024 as part of a wider plan to build one million units for low-income earners and industrial park workers during the 2021-2030 period.

At a conference on February 22, MOC Minister Nguyen Thanh Nghi said that many obstacles to the plan have been resolved with the adoption of revisions to the Land Law and Housing Law as well as many other relevant regulations.

Since 2021, 499 social housing projects have been implemented with a supply of over 411,000 apartments. Of which, 71 projects totalling 40,000 apartments have been completed.

127 projects with 108,000 units are under construction while a further 301 projects with more than 265,000 units have been approved to go ahead.

Minister Nghi expressed his confidence that if the approved projects are completed on time, Vietnam can fulfil the target of completing 428,000 social housing units for the 2021-2025 period.

Speaking at the conference, Deputy PM Tran Hong Ha underlined the need to address obstacles to accelerate the construction of one million social housing units.

He noted that the regulations for social housing development are basically complete, and that it is now important to organise the implementation with the synchronous coordination of the relevant parties.
