The decision will be made during the 12th Session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, which is taking place today, December 7th in Jeju, South Korea. If these two elements of Vietnamese heritage make the list, 12 elements of Vietnam's intangible cultural heritage would have been recognised by UNESCO.
Bai Choi is a kind of traditional folk singing and games of the coastal people of central Vietnam. It brings together music, poetry, acting, painting and literature. Bai Choi remains popular in Quang Nam, Binh Dinh, Phu Yen, and Khanh Hoa. This is the first time Bai Choi has been submitted to the UNESCO Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
