Vietnam exporters shipments to the UK jumped 4.7% year-on-year to nearly US$4.5 billion for the 11 months leading up to December 2016, showing the referendum vote had minimal impact on trade, General Department of Vietnam Customs has reported. Telephones and components topped among export items to the UK tallying in at US$1.7 billion, followed by garments with US$645 million and footwear with US$564 million. The UK has historically been one of the largest export markets in the EU for companies operating in Vietnam.
