VTV.vn - According to the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, Typhoon Conson will move in a northwest direction at a speed of 10-15 km per hour, heading towards the East Sea/South China Sea, over the next 24 hours.

Many places in the northern and central regions will face heavy rain on September 8-9.

* It is forecasted that due to the influence of the tropical convergence zone with the axis passing through central region, along with the strong southeast wind at the subtropical ridges western edge, the northern delta area and Hoa Binh and Son La Provinces will face moderate to heavy rain, with very heavy rain in some places, with average rainfall of 70-120mm per period, even reaching over 150mm per period in several places, from September 8-9.

Moderate and heavy rain will arrive in the provinces from Thanh Hoa to Quang Binh with total rainfall of 150-250mm per period, even over 300mm per period in several places.

Meanwhile, other areas in northern region and provinces and cities from Quang Tri to Quang Ngai will suffer from showers and thunderstorms, with moderate to heavy rain with rainfall of 20-50mm/24 hours and more than 70mm/24 hours in some places.

Hanoi will face moderate and heavy rain, with very heavy rain and thunderstorms locally.

In addition, due to the influence of the southern edge of the tropical convergence axially through the central region combined with the southwest monsoon with moderate intensity, the South Central region, the Central Highlands and the South regions will experience showers and thunderstorms.

* The Central Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control has just issued the dispatch No. 10/CD-TW, requesting ministries, branches and localities to proactively prepare urgent measures to respond to the development of storms and heavy rains amid the complicated COVID-19 pandemic.
