VTV.vn - Two boats suspected of smuggling oil were intercepted off the south-west of Vietnam by coastguards on Sunday evening.

The 5-crew vessels were the Thai-flagged V.Lucky, which was carrying about 170,000 litres of oil and Vietnamese-owned BV-50048TS with 3 crew.

One gun and ammunition were also found. The Vietnamese coastguard said this was the first case where a suspected smuggling boat has been found with weapons. The eight suspects were detained and led to An Thới Port on Phu Quoc Island.
