With the approval of the General Director of Vietnam Television and the Commander of the Naval Forces, the Trade Union of Vietnam Television organized a delegation to visit and present gifts to naval officers and soldiers stationed on islands in the Spratly Archipelago and the DK1 Rig from April 24th to April 30th, 2024.
At 8 am this morning, the Vietnam Television Union joined the 11th delegation led by Rear Admiral Pham Van Luyen, Deputy Political Commissar of the Navy, on board ship Ship 561 to begin the journey to visit the islands of the Truong Sa Archipelago.
During this journey, the delegation from the Trade Union of Vietnam Television will donate five sets of computers and 144 boxes of basic necessities to soldiers and civilians on the islands: Sinh Ton Dong, Len Dao, Da Dong B, Da Tay A, Truong Sa Lon, and DK-I/14 Rig. According to Deputy General Director Dinh Dac Vinh, this is a meaningful activity to enhance the knowledge of Vietnam Television Trade Union officials about the position and role of the islands and seas in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland; at the same time, to have a better understanding of the lives of soldiers and residents in the country's frontline islands.
In recent years, Vietnam Television (VTV) has consistently promoted the nation's activities, including those of the Navy, in safeguarding sovereignty over its islands and seas. With the coordinated information dissemination program for the period of 2019 - 2025, VTV and the Navy will urther strengthen cooperation to provide timely and vivid coverage of Navy's activities in training, islands and sea protection, as well as search and rescue operations and assistance to fishermen. This will help the Navy grasp the situation, and provide timely advice to the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense to deal with situations accurately and promptly. The Navy truly serves as the backbone force in safeguarding the country's sovereignty over the sea, islands, and continental shelf.
Earlier, on March 22, 2024, at the Naval Command Headquarters, representatives of the VTV management and VTV Trade Union had a meeting with the leadership of the Navy to donate 700 million VND in cash and various sponsored gifts with a total value of over 1 billion VND.
