The information was released at a conference held in Hanoi on December 24 to review the National Trade Promotion Programme in 2019.
According to the statistics released, there were 30 commodities that had an export turnover of over US$1 billion in the first 11 months of this year, accounting for 91.6% of total exports. Accordingly, five commodities gained an export turnover ofmore than an impressive US$10 billion.
Up until now, Vietnamese products have been exported to over 200 countries and territories, including many markets requiring fastidious standards such as renowned countries like the US, Japan, EU and the Republic of Korea.
The spread of the Programme has been demonstrated in recent years, especially in 2019. Thanks to the Programme, the trade promotion agencies have significantly improved their capacity and awareness of the investment into trade promotion activities.
The agencies have actively mobilised resources to renovate the implementation of traditional trade promotion activities towards in-depth activities, such as training and consulting businesses on trade promotion skills, also with regards to the selection of products before joining in at events as well as enhancing the communication on domestic and foreign information channels.
Representatives from the Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency (VTPA) under the Ministry of Industry and Trade said that the Ministry will continue to coordinate with relevant agencies, associations and localities to implement and improve the effectiveness of trade promotion activities in 2020 to maintain key markets and develop new markets.
At the conference, the VTPA and Vietnam Association of Small and Medium Enterprises signed an agreement to strengthen the cooperation in sharing information and implementing trade promotion activities to support small and medium enterprises.
