The fire aboard the vessel apparently started in the engine room and was later put out. Two crew escaped the boat without harm. The ship was built in 2008 and could accommodate nearly 50 guests. Quang Ninh Province officials ordered fire safety inspections of all vessels in Ha Long Bay after the incident, especially wooden boats. The vessels that fail the inspections will be suspended from operations.
