The circular on opening online accounts is considered the legal corridor for this new regulation. In addition, banks must ensure that there are measures and technologies for identifying and verifying customers through biometric identification and a national e-citizens database.
However, several banks suggested that there should be mechanisms and regulations from the State Bank with more specific guidance on allowing the usage of customers' data or the recognition of mutual authentication.
