To open bank accounts without check-in at counter
VTV.vn - A new regulation allowing banks to identify customers online without having to go to transaction counters has just been approved by the State Bank of Vietnam. This is expected to help increase digital payments.

The circular on opening online accounts is considered the legal corridor for this new regulation. In addition, banks must ensure that there are measures and technologies for identifying and verifying customers through biometric identification and a national e-citizens database.

However, several banks suggested that there should be mechanisms and regulations from the State Bank with more specific guidance on allowing the usage of customers' data or the recognition of mutual authentication.

For example, if a customer goes to bank A to open an account, and authenticates their identification online, they can go to bank B without the need for reauthentication, which will save costs and time for banks.
