The dengue fever spread is an alarming dilemma, having penetrated many localities across Vietnam.
However, the An Ninh and An Dong Districts of Thai Binh Province have recorded no cases of infection over the past 2 years. Experts believe this is the result of a pilot project to prevent dengue fever and Japanese encephalitis in changing climate conditions.
Anti-bacterial spray is only one of the 3 instruments used under the project to prevent dengue fever and Japanese encephalitis in the context of climate change. The program was launched in 2015, with the assistance of the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology along and the local health authorities.
The program has expanded from 30 pilot households to 100% of the farming households in An Ninh and An Dong Communes. After 2 years, the local authorities have recorded no dengue fever infections.
