According to the Vietnam National Mine Action Centre, more than 6 million hectares of land in the country has been contaminated with mines. It will take a long time to clear them all out. Recently, the affected localities have been raising awareness among local people to prevent deaths or injuries.
Since the battle to protect the Northern border, unexplosive ordinance has killed and injured 22 people and has contaminated over 3.4% of the total land area of Lạng Sơn province. Localities of the province are taking steps to clear all of the remaining unexplosive ordnance.
