Vietnam is one of the countries most contaminated by unexploded ordnances. The total amount of bombs, mines, and UXO used in Vietnam during the war is 15 million tonnes. All 63 provinces and cities in Vietnam were found to be with unexploded ordnances after the war. Quảng Trị Province is a locality with the largest area of UXO contamination in Vietnam. The province aims to be the first locality in Vietnam by 2025 to be marked as safe from UXO. It will take 100 years and billion of US dollars for complete mine clearance. The needed funds will be sourced from international partners, organisations, and charity donations.
