This is the last stop for waste from the Formosa Corporation before it is released into the environment. Among several new devices, an automatic monitoring system has been installed to take waste samples for examination.
The computer system is sealed and the cameras work 24 hours a day inside the automatic monitoring system. Every 2 minutes, the data is sent back to Hà Tĩnh Province’s Centre for Environment Monitoring. The agencies in charge will be notified of abnormal statistics immediately.
"Agencies will be informed by messages and email when the statistics exceed the set parametres so they can make a timely response." - TRAN NGOC SON, Vice Director, Ha Tinh Centre for Environment Monitoring.
Besides monitoring Formosa’s waste water, Hà Tĩnh's provincial authority also ordered the installation of an exhaust fume monitoring system.
"We have completed systems to monitor 6 figures, and are hastening installation of systems to monitor the next figures, including phenol, cyanide, and so on. 24/7 cameras and online observation systems are being set up." - DUONG TAT THANG, Vice Chairman, Ha Tinh Provincial People’s Committee.
The authorities of Hà Tĩnh Province are making efforts to monitor the discharge of Formosa Corporation, to prevent unwanted environmental incidents in the future.
