The boat carrying 9 crew members sank at about 5am after encountering technical difficulties. The boat sank about 41 nautical miles south-east of Danang City.
The centre immediately tried to establish contact with Tran Cong Dinh, captain of the boat but to no avail. Boat SAR412 was sent out to approach the sunken boat and successfully rescued all 9 fishermen at 7:30 am. The crew are in stable condition and seven have been sent back to the mainland. Two experienced fishermen have remained on the rescue boat to help with the salvage operation.
