According to an initial report on September 15 from the Central Steering Committee on Natural Disaster Prevention and Control, as of Thursday morning, torrential rains and severe floods caused by tropical storm Rai in the central region left 41 dead, injured and missing. Including five people reported dead, with two in Thanh Hoa, one in Nghe An and two in Quang Binh, five in Thanh Hoa, three in Nghe An, and two in Quang Nam and 26 others injured.
The storm also destroyed nearly 2,500 houses. 19 small bridges and many roads have been damaged. The Central Steering Committee on Natural Disaster Prevention and Control has directed localities to closely monitor the situation and be prepared to evacuate local people out of dangerous areas, inspect reservoirs and dams and mobilise forces and equipment for emergencies.
