Born in 1970 in Hanoi, Ha was left partially paralyzed at the age of two due to complications from a high fever. Her childhood was marked by insecurity and isolation. She often avoided crowds and struggled with feelings of difference. Dreams of integration and self-affirmation once seemed far out of reach for a child living with a disability.
However, a turning point came when she was introduced to sports for people with disabilities. What began as an effort to regain physical function gradually became a source of light in her life. Not only did sports improve her health, they awakened a strong inner drive, helping her overcome self-doubt and push beyond her limits. Within a short time, she won a medal in her very first national competition, a life-changing milestone.
Over her 26-year sports career, she has competed in athletics, wheelchair racing, javelin throw, and shot put, and continues to spread positive energy through pickleball. However, behind each medal are countless falls, injuries, and painful moments. As she says, “Not falling means you are not truly in the game”, and each time she gets back up, she grows stronger.
Beyond her personal achievements, Ha has become a source of inspiration for the community. She actively participates in social initiatives, supporting people with disabilities in finding jobs, starting businesses, es and integrating into society. One of her most meaningful goals is to set up a sports club for people with disabilities, where they can find joy, strength, and confidence.
The program also reveals emotional stories behind her success, especially her more than 30-year friendship with a teammate who has supported her since her earliest days. Memories of a missed opportunity at an international competition, tears shed on the sidelines, and timely encouragement all come together to show how she regained her strength and to continue competing and winning medals.
