The meeting was part of the celebration of 10 years of the establishment of Vietnam small and medium-sized enterprise association. The State President hailed the achievement of the SME community for the past decade. SMEs now employ 50% of the country's workforce, account for 40% of GDP and 30% of export turnover. Deeper economic integration with free trade agreements with other markets open up new opportunities and challenges for Vietnamese SMEs.
During the meeting, business representatives voice their concerns over their current difficulties in administrative procedures, financial limitations and out-dated technologies. However, they also show their strong determination in conquering such hardship to improve efficiency and competitiveness.
