On the evening of October 15, at Studio S7 (Vietnam Television - 43 Nguyen Chi Thanh, Hanoi), the VTV Youth Union and the Vietnamese Loving Heart Fund held a special live broadcast titled “Stand with Our Compatriots - For Flood-Affected Communities”. The event was filled with warmth, compassion, and a profound sense of solidarity.

According to the organizers, in recent days, millions of Vietnamese hearts have turned toward the provinces severely affected by two consecutive storms, Storm No.10 and Storm No.11. Within just a few days, floods caused by Storm No.11 claimed 18 lives, left many missing and destroyed or severely damaged nearly 1,800 houses, submerging over 240,000 households in the process.

Thousands of schools in northern and central Vietnam were also devastated. As of October 3, more than 1,500 school sites had been affected, Ha Tinh, Nghe An, and Thanh Hoa bearing the brunt of the damage. Many communities in these provinces remain underwater and students have yet to return to class.

During the program, Nguyen Hoai Dam, Standing Deputy Secretary of the VTV Youth Union, shared his emotions: “The floods may pass, but humanity remains. Millions of gifts and hearts are being sent to the flood-hit regions. The program ‘Stand with Our Compatriots’ was created to encourage more acts of kindness and help people ease their suffering and rebuild their lives quickly.”

Throughout the evening, the audience was deeply moved by real-life stories of courage and compassion. Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Hoang, Deputy Political Commissar of Air Regiment 916, Air Division 371, and his comrades made dozens of flights,delivering over four tons of relief goods and essential supplies to isolated areas.

Meanwhile, Ha Minh Tan, Captain of the volunteer Rescue Team from Phu Tho Province, and his volunteer team were among the first civilian forces to reach the flood’s epicenter while the waters were still rising above rooftops.

“Once we set out to help, we left fear behind. The only thought in our mindwas to help in the fastest way possible to ensure people’s safety”, Mr. Tan recalled.

Another inspiring story came from Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Hue, Principal of La Nhan Kindergarten in Duc Quang Commune, Ha Tinh Province. Despite severe damage to the school facilities, she and her fellow teachers worked tirelessly day and night to clean and repair the classrooms, determined to get the children back to school as soon as possible.

Journalist Hoai Thuong (VTV), who reported directly from the flooded areas of Ha Tinh, provided viewers with powerful, emotional footage, enabling them to experience both the loss and the unwavering resilience of the local residents.
The spirit of “Stand with Our Compatriots” also spread beyond the flood zones, to every school and neighborhood. Ms. Vu Minh Huong, a teacher and Youth Union officer at Lang Thuong Secondary School (Hanoi), shared details of her school’s fundraising campaign to support schools affected by flooding. She hopes that students in disaster areas will soon be able to return to safe classrooms.

During the live broadcast, businesses, organizations, and individuals made symbolic donations of cash, goods, and essential supplies to supp ort residents in flood-hit areas. By the end of the program, the Vietnamese Loving Heart Fund had received over 8.8 billion VND in cash and 3.2 billion VND worth of in-kind donations, along with nearly 100 tons of goods, medicine, and essential supplies.
At the event, the VTV Youth Union and the Vietnamese Loving Heart Fund presented certificates of gratitude to corporate sponsors and donors, as a heartfelt thank-you to those who stood with people in need.

The organizing committee announced that donations would continue to be accepted until October 17 through the Vietnamese Loving Heart Fund - VTV at 43 Nguyen Chi Thanh (Hanoi), or via bank transfer to account 1235667979 (Vietcombank), with the reference “Ung Ho khac phuc bao lu” (Support for Flood Relief), or through designated collection points for in-kind donations.
