“Truc Thinh Vuong Song Hong” – A new perspective on the historical Red River
At the meeting, People's Artist Nguyen Hoang Lam – Deputy Head of the Department of Special Reports and Educational Programs – stated that the documentary project “Truc Thinh Vuong Song Hong” aims to provide a more comprehensive view of the historical role, economic and cultural value, and development potential of the Red River. The film will consist of 10 episodes of 30 minutes each and is expected to be broadcast in November 2025.

The documentary “Truc Thinh Vuong Song Hong” not only recounts the history and value of the Mother River but also introduces new perspectives on its socio-economic development potential. With well-invested production, engaging content, and close cooperation with local television stations, the project promises to bring practical value and raise awareness of the Red River’s role in the country's sustainable development.
Journalist Nguyen Hoang Long, Deputy Head of the Department of Special Reports and Educational Programs, emphasized: “We hope this project will become the most-watched documentary about the river. In order to achieve that, it is important to communicate with the media from the very to gain support from departments and agencies”. He also stressed the need to consult various experts to ensure the film’s accuracy and depth.

Opportunity for local television stations to collaborate and share experiences
The Department of Special Reports and Educational Programs will take primary responsibility for script development, production, and post-production. The film is also expected to involve participation from local broadcasting stations such as Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Phu Tho, Vinh Phuc, Thai Binh. These units will play an important role in providing archival footage, characters, experts, and filming support.
After listening to Meritorious Artist Vu Hoai Nam – Deputy Head of the Documentary Film Division – present the project proposal for “Truc Thinh Vuong Song Hong”, local television stations provided valuable feedback to improve the project outline.
Mr. Truong Giang, Director of Lao Cai Radio and Television Station, shared: “This is a very interesting idea to connect stations and leverage our collective strength. We have a valuable archive of Red River footage and are ready to contribute to the project”.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyet Chinh, Director of Phu Tho Radio and Television Station, expressed her excitement that the idea of a documentary on the Red River axiswould be realized: “The project’s name ties directly to economic development and prosperity, it’s significant. This is a topic we have wanted to work on for a long time but haven’t had the opportunity to bring to life”.
