Bac Giang and Hai Duong provinces which are among the country's largest litchi- growing localities said that although the quantity of the fruit had dropped compared to last year, quality is higher due to the application of VietGAP and GlobalGAP standards. The two provinces have harvested 170,000 tonnes, a decrease of 65,000 tonnes compared with last year. But distributors expect that around 70,000 tonnes of litchi will be consumed in the south this year, an increase of 10 percent compared to last year through big supermarkets including Co.opmart, Big C, Lotte, Satra and wholesale markets.
