VTV.vn - Vietnam was ranked sixth among global apparel exports in 2015, according to the Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association.

Vietnam’s participation in free trade agreements has spurred on an increase in foreign investment in the textile industry. Several Belgium tech firms recently visited Vietnam to seek co-operation opportunities.

This representative from Europlasma tech firm is presenting their nano-coating solution at a forum between Belgian tech enterprises and Vietnamese textile firms held in Hanoi on Tuesday. One of their latest technologies is a solution for durable water repellent treatment for sporting goods. Seeing the potential of Vietnam’s textile market, especially as several big foreign shoemakers have been shifting productions to Vietnam, Europlasma came to Vietnam to introduce their products to local textile and apparel enterprises.

Europlasma is just one of 15 leading Belgian tech firms with textile solutions have come to Vietnam, with a hope of seeking co-operation opportunities while learning more about the demand of Vietnam’s textile market. As the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement takes effect, businesses from both countries will benefit from this agreement.

"International co-operation is needed to support Vietnam to raise fabric production capacity to meet trade deal requirements, specifically, the yarn forward rule of origin under the TPP, and the fabric forward rule of origin under the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement." - Truong Van Cam, General Secretary, Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association .

VITAS General Secretary Truong Van Cam also stated that VITAS was working with counterparts including the Textile Machinery Association of Germany and Italy to hold further forums which offer access to the latest in textile industry technologies. Lan Anh, Vietnam Television, Hanoi.
