This event belongs to the genital reconstruction programme for Vietnamese children under the name Thiện Nhân and Friends. Thien Nhan is a kid who was abandoned in the forest 10 years ago. His legs and genitals were eaten by wild animal in the forest. Roberto De Castro successfully conducted the surgery for Thien Nhan and saved his life.
Danang People’s Committee awarded a certificate of merit to Professor Roberto De Castro because of his contributions for Vietnamese children.
Doctor Roberto is working with his Vietnamese colleagues at Da Nang Hospital for Women and Children from June 20th to June 24th. He will offer consultancy on 40 cases and 12 complex operations will be completed by the staff. The programme is now in its 10th year and has treated over 200 children.
