The Northwest Nafood company is currently packaging the first 2 tons of fresh passion fruit to ship to France via air cargo. Export requirements for the product include one kilo having 12 fruits, and that the fruits are planted and harvested according to GlobalGap standards.
The average price of passion fruit is 67 US cents per kilo. This brings nearly 7,000 US dollars of profit for each hectare of passion fruit. The exporting of passion fruit from Son La province has been made possible thanks to the province's advantages in terms of production conditions, climate and quality of soil. This will also help promote the province's principal product.
