At the festival, VTV competes at two categories of Documentaries and Scientific film. Four VTV’s documentaries have been sorted out including: Keep Telling Yesterday Story (Artistic Programs Department), the First Resistance Spring (Cable Programs Department), the Centennial Torch (Documentaries and Reports Department); and Live and Recall (Documentaries and Reports Department).
In the scientific film categories, VTV’s entries include Nhat Tan Bridge, Insect Melody, Bird Nesting Season, Impacts of Hydro-power Dam in Mekong River, the Colors of Nature, Son La Hydro-Power Plant – the Work of Records. All produced by the Scientific and Educational Programs Department. The Documentaries and Reports Department contributes one entry which is Vietnamese Sea and Boats.
At the last Vietnam Film Festival, VTV’s Son Doong Concert won the golden lotus prize for the scientific film category. Another entry Born in the Rising Tide Season by director Vu Hoai Nam won the silver lotus. Director Nguyen Hoang Lam won the golden lotus for best director in the scientific film category.
The opening ceremony of the Vietnam Film Festival will be broadcast live on November 24th on VTV2 channel. The closing ceremony will be held on November 28th and will also be broadcast live on VTV1 channel.
The festival draws the participation of 800 actors and actresses.
